When radical Islamic terrorists attacked World Trade Center and later train stations in Madrid and London, the Western societies were challenged: How to respond to an invisible enemy driven by a mixture of religious fanaticism and a political ideology, which aims at destroying the West and constructing a society based on the Quran and the Sharia. And how had it come this far. This three-part series follows the tracks of today’s Al Qaeda and goes back to post-WWII Egypt, where the battle between the modern West and radical Islam gained momentum. This was the beginning of a movement that later spread to Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan and across the Middle East. This story starts with Egyptian Jihadist and martyr Sayyid Qutb, who visited the “decadent” US, which he thought was obsessed with sex and materialism. The programmes of the series include: 1. The Ideologue 2. The Warriors 3. The Network
