The Renaissance

A historical documentary that takes us close to the renaissance – one of history’s most intriguing and crucial chapters, the very basis of our lives and values today. What happened in Europe at the time and how has it influenced modern man? From the end of the 14th century the universe changed, and new thoughts of belief, existence and science replaced the old picture of the world. Great thinkers and artists created new knowledge and realities: The human body was dissected with great curiosity, Gutenberg invented the art of printing and Copernicus discovered that the sun, not the earth, is the center of the universe. At the same time humanists focused on man: Man, that so far had been standing in the shadow of God, now stepped into the light and took an interest in education, free will and democracy.
