Poul is a fisherman- one of the last pound net fishermen in Denmark. A few years ago, he experienced a profound crisis. He felt he faced a cruel choice: come out as gay or take his own life. From the ruins of his old life a whole new life emerged. At the age of 62 Poul found the love of his life. His name is Mai, and he comes from Thailand. When Poul and Mai met their lives changed completely. Poul experienced a stormy romance such as he had never had before, and Mai decided to settle in Denmark far from his children, who still live with his sister in Thailand. The story of Poul and Mai reminds us that it is never too late to change the course in your life. In picturesque surroundings, we follow Poul and Mai’s life on a small island, where time seems to have come to a standstill. They live a happy life but there are clouds on the horizon. Mai desperately misses his children and wants to be with his little boy. They are now trying to get him to come to stay with them in Denmark, realizing that if they do not succeed their love may be jeopardized.
