Georg Jensen

When sculptor Georg Jensen opened his little silver smithy in Copenhagen in 1904, he could not have known the impact he would have on posterity.

Georg Jensen

This documentary is not only about Georg Jensen the man, but also about the craftmanship tradition he created. A tradition which placed the Georg Jensen workshop and the designers with whom Jensen worked into the international spotlight.

Georg Jensen also explores how the mind and the hand – the artist and the smith – conjure up a piece of art together. The viewer is able to see the silver as it is worked upon, and hears about working conditions, styles, and fashions -then and now. The aggregate stories told by those appearing in the film form a complete picture of the man, the tradition he created, and the way the Georg Jensen company has evolved over the last 100 years.

The film shows the company’s evolution from workshop to super brand, and explores the brand’s place in the luxury goods industry.
