The four programs portray a line of adults who have autism. Common for all of them is that they possess various talents and abilities, but they have a hard time making use of them in the job market, which tends to exclude people with autism.
Primarily through reportages with the people involved, the story is about autism; How to lead a life with autism and how they see and experience the world.
Autism is not something visible, it is not a disease. Autism is a disturbance in the brain. Scholars do not know why some of us have this disturbance, but one in every hundred people does. We do not know a lot about how autistic brains work, and what differentiates them from other brains. To try to understand, the brain researcher Troels W. Kjær conducts various tests with the people in the program. He himself competes with them in all disciplines, and uses this as a foundation for telling about the autistic brain from a scientific perspective. Kjær is surprised by their ability to remember numbers and analyse complex patterns, solving puzzles and complex professor cubes.
Only two experts participate in the series: The brain researcher and a psychologist, Christina Sommer, who has a son with autism and is specialized in the area.
