The Exhibited
A film about Lars von Trier’s art project Psychomobile #1: The World Clock. In two months – 53 characters inhabiting 19 rooms in an art building – their moods dictated by the movements of unsuspecting ants in New Mexico. As if under a microscope, basic human instincts are explored uncompromisingly.
Gradually the subtle line between fiction and reality transcends. A fascinating insight into the process behind the visionary thinker’s experiment on chaos governed by rigid rules. Real ants controlling living characters. Von Trier himself features in only one brief shot, but his unseen presence hovers over the film like a storm.
